Jersey Electricity reported lower first-half profits on lower sales of electricity.

For the six months to 31 March, profit before tax fell £0.4m to £9.3m from a year earlier, and revenue fell 1% to £59.7m, mainly due to a £1.3m decrease in revenue in JEBS, its contracting and business services unit.

Revenue in its energy business was broadly flat compared with last year.

Unit sales of electricity fell 3%, from 368m to 357m kWh, compared with last year.
